Scams Behind Print Advertising And Free Press

I don’t pay for print advertising. I don’t have to. Actually, let me change that, I may consider it depending on the publication and potential for exposure AND sales. There are so many forms of press coverage now that will … Continue reading

I Just Got Rejected From

I was reading College Confidential, comprised of mainly high school kids, and saw a running theme of “I did all of these activities and didnt get what I wanted.” I can empathize with that. But there is also an element of “my heart wasn’t in the effort, I just did these activities for admission. So since I didn’t get accepted to elite university, I wasted my time.” Continue reading

Famous People Who Were Rejected From College

Time puts rejection letters in perspective, says Ted Turner. He received dual rejections as a teenager, by Princeton and Harvard, he says in an interview. The future America’s Cup winner attended Brown University, where he became captain of the sailing team. You aren’t Gordon Gecko and you aren’t managing a hedge fund, no matter how cool it might sound at first.

I Started My Own Law Firm

I was absolutely miserable working in a law firm. The funny thing is as long as I can remember all I ever wanted in a career was my own business, and when I began thinking about law school, I always imagined working in my own small law firm. The trouble was there was this thing getting in the way – my paycheck. My paycheck was probably the only thing I really liked about working at that firm. It was sort of an addiction – a fix every other Thursday. Then February 2009 happened. Law firm layoffs were everywhere in the news, and I was one of those statistics. I actually was not surprised – one of the partners with whom I shared a printer left a memo on the printer that I accidentally stapled to a pleading I was preparing (good thing I gave it a proof read before I submitted it to the Court). Knowing in advance was good. I was able to have my moment of stress ahead of time and just deal with moving on Continue reading
