The New Entrepreneur Series
Ivan Hernandez (the entrepreneur not the boxer) started a new blog where he is dispensing some seriously good advice. The blog, after his name, is only a couple of months old but with sage advice. I like this video below, … Continue reading
Famous People Who Were Rejected From College
Time puts rejection letters in perspective, says Ted Turner. He received dual rejections as a teenager, by Princeton and Harvard, he says in an interview. The future America’s Cup winner attended Brown University, where he became captain of the sailing team. He left college after his father cut off financial support, and joined his father’s billboard company, which he built into the media empire that spawned CNN. Brown has since awarded him a bachelor’s degree. www.howichangedcareers.com Continue reading

I Specialize In Those Times When You Want To Help But Aren’t Sure Of What To Do Or Say
Career Change: Radiation Therapist to Online Specialty Gift Shop
“I’m very fortunate to have a supportive spouse. I realize that many people wish they could do the same, but don’t have the guts to go for it or the support system to be able to do it.” Continue reading
Juste Pour Rire: The Comedy of Dr. Ken Jeong
I watch the show Community where Ken Jeong plays a Spanish professor, Senor Chang.
Before becoming a comedian, he practiced medicine…he still does between comedy gigs.
“I am a fully licensed California boarded doctor. Not an acupuncturist bitch. Don’t hate alright, don’t hate. Keep it real.
I got a day job just like you guys alright. Same thing. Though I talk a little different at work. Hi I’m doctor Jeong, I’ll be your primary care provider, me love you long time.”

College Graduates And Career Choices
Oh and stay away from garbage insurance/financial planning jobs. These are bad. If you are 22 and being courted by a company to be a ‘financial planner’ it simply means they want you to bug all your friends and family about their shitty life insurance policies. You aren’t Gordon Gecko and you aren’t managing a hedge fund, no matter how cool it might sound at first.
Will’s Wisdom and the Pursuit of Happiness
“Don’t ever let somebody tell you you cant do something. Not even me. Alright. You got a dream. You gotta protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. You want something. Go get it. Period.” Will Smith from The Pursuit of Happiness Continue reading

I Left Medicine And Started My Own Jewelry Line
Why change?
It’s a much more flexible lifestyle, I get to be creative in the designs, materials, promotional materials, the method of doing business. I get to create the whole thing just the way I want it. Not that it’s easy, but I feel very passionate about it and much more fulfilled in being able to be creative and open to many possibilities in my work. I also get to talk with lots of other very creative and inspired people in my day-to-day work, which I find motivating.

I Am Big Doer. I Hate Talking About Things. I Like To Execute
I also get the misconception that I must be like Ari Gold from Entourage. The minute I sign a client, sponsors hate me because I get my clients paid. However, for this business I am actually relatively easy to deal with and am reasonable in my asking. I want my clients working and don’t like to get caught up in fruitless negotiations. Some people won’t even give me a chance to prove this which is fine as long as my clients are happy. When I am curing cancer (there is actually a Matt Meyerson who researches at Harvard working on this as we speak) I will take my job seriously.
