“Pen began blogging as LoudPen on http://www.theloudestpenever.com/, a lifestyle blog about 80s and 90s Hip-hop and R&B. Recently, she discovered that she needed an outlet to discuss her newfound obsession with fashion. In essence, she decided to drop the Loud and just write as Pen. Pen found in her calling in fashion journalism when she covered Africa Fashion Week New York in July 2010, for Urbane Perspective Media + Lifestyle. Shortly after this, Pen decided to start de la Pen and make covering international and multicultural fashion a priority focus for the blog. Pen attended Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York and covered everything from Korean fashion (Concept Korea), to native Uzbek fabrics with the Guli Collections, to Rubin Singer, an emerging New York designer from a family of prominent Russian designers.
