COMING SOON: LoudPen

From DeLaPen.wordpress.com
“Pen began blogging as LoudPen on http://www.theloudestpenever.com/, a lifestyle blog about 80s and 90s Hip-hop and R&B. Recently, she discovered that she needed an outlet to discuss her newfound obsession with fashion. In essence, she decided to drop the Loud and just write as Pen. Pen found in her calling in fashion journalism when she covered Africa Fashion Week New York in July 2010, for Urbane Perspective Media + Lifestyle. Shortly after this, Pen decided to start de la Pen and make covering international and multicultural fashion a priority focus for the blog. Pen attended Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York and covered everything from Korean fashion (Concept Korea), to native Uzbek fabrics with the Guli Collections, to Rubin Singer, an emerging New York designer from a family of prominent Russian designers.

Meg Whitman or Jerry Brown For Governor of California?

There’s a new job to be had. Governor of California. As with most things here, the hype (and propaganda) is swirling. I posed the question “Meg or Jerry for Governor? Discuss” to my friends on FaceBook. These are some of their responses. So far my favorite is to vote for ” Meg Whitman because she looks like George Washington & he was pretty good.” Continue reading

How To Get Celebrity Clients

A couple of weeks ago I did a radio interview with Ric Franzi of Critical Mass.
“Terry Carter, President and Founder of Travertine Spa, Inc. shares his strategy to launch and grow a firm in luxury body care products, resort apparel, and home products. Terry also reveals how he successfully used the marketing concept of “gifting” to build a large celebrity client list.” Continue reading

My Recent Trip To Haiti

One of the most amazing things about owning your own business is that you can decide when to take off… for a break…for vacation…or for something more important.

Haiti.

I was fortunate enough to lead a group donw to Port au Prince to do missionary and relief work. Yeah, I’ve travelled the globe and seen quite a bit. This time poverty + destruction was something new for me.

I have never seen street kids. The amazing thing about these kids who have only the clothes on their back is that they speak French Creole and English. Out of necessity. In order to survive. But still, more than most American kids of similar age.

Visiting the orphanage broke my heart.

Watch the video for just a taste. At the end, there is information on how to support the Bousol Timoun Orphanage. Leave your comments on the youtube page or here.

I wonder, could I house 36 kids in my home….hmmmm.

NEW Press: Petal Jojoba Body Cream on Allaboutthepretty.com

The cream itself is thick and luxurious without being greasy, in fact, I could type within seconds of applying this product. It absorbs right into the skin but still leaves me soft and hydrated. Plus I’m a stickler for cute packaging and the metal bottle is perfect for a modern minimalist like myself.

See this product and more from the Travertine Spa Collection. Continue reading

Two Year Old Smoking Baby (video)

This has nothing to do with careers.

This smoking baby is 2 years old and lives in Sumatra, Indonesia.

I thought the tape was sped up until I looked at the gestures of the people in the background.

Supposedly this two year old child smokes two packs a day.

How do you say, “WRONG” in Indonesian?
