I heard about the K Town Reality show months ago but thought it was a joke (see SNL clip below). But no. Its real.
Its based on the characters form Jersey Shore but set in Korean town in LA. K Town is definitely a subculture. Add some MTV fuel and (((BOOM))) a new guilty pleasure.
I don’t know when the show will air but casting was done months ago.
To my Korean buddies, My Asian American Buddies, I’m glad you guys finally exist on National TV, but ouch. I see controversy. I feel your pain. I know your culture is not one big club scene. But I am only one person. I hope this show doesn’t bring a bunch of new weird people to the 찜질방.
What makes it is worse is one of the producers considers (k)galbi and karaoke as a right of passage?
More Jersey Shore? Wow. I thought this was a joke too.
