I began traveling internationally as a teenager. Travel has been one of the most fascinating and life shaping parts of my life. It is a priority to me. Yeah, I travel for work too, but my spirit soars when I think back to times when I was napping in a hammock on Tioman, barefoot and no shirt in Panama, surfing in Africa, having tea with monks in Vietnam or hiking in Switzerland.
If you are one of those people who read inspiring stories and then think of all the reasons you can’t do likewise..stop that now. Did you know that you don’t have to be rich to travel? Unless you are staying at 5 star hotels, your plane ticket will likely be your greatest expense.
I saw A Map For Saturday on MTV about a year or so ago. I watched it again today. Watching it reminds me of my first trip to Europe, alone and the adventure that ensued. A year into starting Travertine Spa, I made a point of being able to be away from the office to maintain that adventure.
Once you know what exists outside of your neighborhood, you continually want more. This is an acceptable urge. I know a lot of people who limit their world to [insert home town] and Vegas. That is their world. That’s not enough for me.
My references are broader.
One of the reasons I became an entrepreneur was to be able to live the life I wanted.
I like to work hard.
I like to travel.
I like knowing about cultures outside of my world.
What kind of life to you want to live? Do you think it is attainable or do you dismiss it as fantasy?
..btw, students and teachers can travel VERY cheaply through STA
